PopCorn Reading Strategy : Suwasra

                             Topic: Reading My Balloon

Teacher : Mrs. Jyotika Sharma

Subject : English                                                                                                               Grade: 1st

Teachers Reflection : Aim of the lesson was that students will be able to make text to self connections with a story read aloud.
for reading I used the popcorn strategy. when I used this strategy, almost all of the students were concentrating at the time of the reading, because they did not know whether they could be the next person to read.  On the other hand, some students were distracting the reader, because they were signalling him to point at one of them to be the next reader.
I am working on how to stop those distractors from disturbing the class.

Hi,
I really appreciate this post! Thank you for sharing your lesson plan AND your honest reflections.
I also think your LO is very clear.

I have a couple of questions...

1. How is your lesson aligned to the LO? It is not clear to me where and how kids are making text to self connections as all your questions are about the text only.

2. Can you change the HOT questions to encourage that self to text connection? Can you try that part again? Re-post what kinds of questions you ask and what the kids responses were when they made that connection...I am really curious to know
