Division: Using combination of problem solving and jigsaw. (SUWASRA)

Topic: Divide by expanding HTO (hundreds, tens and ones)

School : Saifiyah High School - Suwasra                             Teacher: Ms. Sarita jain
Subject: Maths                                                                        Grade: 4th

Teacher used a combination of jigsaw and problem solving in groups. initially students were divided into four groups (expert groups), they were distributed slips, that has questions written on them. Students solved the questions, then they were divided in jigsaw group. In jigsaw group, each member discussed how he/she solved the particular problem.
Then the group activity was analysed and the lesson was summarized.

Thank you for sharing this. I think it is very useful to see such a detailed lesson plan. Also I am really glad that you are trying to use problem solving in the math classroom.
A few questions:
Why did you FIRST solve the problem on the board? Do you think that would have limited the number of ways in which kids could have tried to solve the worksheet?

If you had to try this again, what would you change to TRULY make it a problem solving class?
